We’ve been away overnight. Yesterday Andrew and Jonathan walked the next stretch of Offa’s Dyke path. They’re doing the walk in 7 – 10 mile sections. They’ve arrived at the outskirts of Hay on Wye (Second hand bookshop lovers delight town). Yesterday was surprisingly sunny and humid, the men in my life have sunburnt necks and the older one felt really unwell this morning so instead of part two of the walk we drove home.

On the journey to Hay on Wye we spotted some amazing petrol and diesel prices. The most expensive diesel was 134.9 pence / litre that translates to $2.667 / litre. This in a rural area with minimal bus service and no rail service! Thankfully in Droitwich it’s a little cheaper.
Becky and I went browsing around Hay, it’s a small quaint town, with interesting shops, I think the only national chains were two banks and a Spar store- very unusual in the UK where one high street resembles another.
I’m not a huge fan of second hand bookshops, I’ve never liked the musty smells and dusty feel of old books. Becky however loves a bargain. We were able to buy some books for Becky and Jonathan , mostly hardbacks at less than paperback prices. I did buy a lovely old book, Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss.

That does look like a lovely old book. I love the cover.
That was a great buy Ann!
Oh, I LOVE old second hand bookstores and the smell of mouldy old books.
Smells like treasures waiting for discovery to me!
Kim you’d be overwhelmed with books in Hay on Wye.My son loves beautifully covered books.
Oh, what a lovely book! I could happily browse in an old book store for hours!
I wish I could visit!
