This is a bit random rambling post…… blame it on working a night shift last night.
I’m a blood donor, my blood group is O Rhesus Negative, the type that can be given to anyone in an emergency. I usually get called to give blood about three times a year. I gave blood in July and since then I’ve felt like I had to catch my breath at regular intervals, it was a bit worrying walking in Snowdonia in August , at times my pulse rate was 140bpm-I’m a bit overweight but not that unfit.
Suspecting I was Anaemic, I went to my GP a few weeks ago who referred me for an X Ray, Blood Tests and other investigations. Guess what? I was Anaemic, my Haemogloin was 9.4g/dL , it’s normally about 13g/dL, my Iron stores were about 1/3 of normal value, I’m now taking Iron tablets. The Blood Transfusion Service have agreed to invite me to give blood once a year in future.
Sometimes as a mum I feel so tired but just keep going. The stage when children are babies is tiring with night feeds, then the running around with activities, my children don’t do very many but some children and their mums seem to be in perpetual motion. I’m thankful that because I’ve worked shifts, I’m able to take a nap from time to time. It’s hard for some people to slow down and to admit that they find things difficult. I’m not sure whether pride, independence or fear of what others think of us makes us reticent about admitting that we find things tough, I’m not saying that we should always tell other people how we are, some things need to be private, I do think that we need to be sensitive towards others and come alongside them to listen and help when necessary.
Last Sunday there was a visiting preacher at church, he preached from Colossians 1 v 19, about all the fulness that is in Christ, you can listen here . One of the things he mentioned was of the unlimited resources to be found in the Lord Jesus Christ, how often we try to carry our burdens alone instead of asking the Lord to help us.

I think I’m O Rhesus Negative too, is that the one you get an injection for after giving birth and they are very cautious about if you bleed during pregnancy?
My hubby knows your visiting Pastor as he sees him each year at the Pastors Conference in Trinity New Jersey.
Small world.
Wow. That is a very low hb level!! I thought mine was low at 10.1!
Take it easy…
Have you tried those Spatone sachets?
Naomi
Muumymac, yes you get an injection after the birth if your baby is Rhesus Positive, I’ve had it twice once because of some bleeding in pregnancy and after our first daughter was born. I’m glad I had children when I did because Rhesus negative women now have the injection at about 28 weeks of pregnancy now. It’s a painful injection- aren’t they all!?
Your hubby may know my father in law, he’s been to the Pastors Conference a few times when his nephew and then his daughter lived out in the States.
Jeremy is an able preacher, it’s so encouraging when the Lord raises up young men who are gifted to preach.
Naomi, Thanks , I haven’t tried Spatone, I think Anaemia is a bit like having kangaroo petrol, running almost on empty.
