Last Sunday, we had a visiting preacher. the Bible passage he read was Joshua 3 v 7 – 17 and 4 v 1-24. after reading the scriptures he spoke to the children , it was profitable for us all though.
The passage is about The Twelve Memorial Stones the Israelites were to set up to remember how God had held back the river Jordan so that the Israelites could cross the river on dry ground into The Promised Land.
In the UK on the 5th November we remember how the king and parliament was protected from being assassinated by Guy Fawkes and his accomplices, bonfires were lit across the country to celebrate their deliverance, fireworks have been added to this tradition in recent years .
On 11th November at 11.00hrs we remember the end of the First World War, people in the UK still wear poppies , and have a two minutes’ silence to remember those who gave their lives in that war and others since.
Far above these things as believers we remember all that the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us at the Lord’s Table/ Supper /Communion. From 1 Corinthians 11 v 23 – 26
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
